This can be fixed by enabling the "Load Images" feature on the viewing pane.
To do this please follow these instructions:
Open an email in the viewing pane.
At the bottom left of the viewing pane select the icon to Load Images.
Click off the Email onto another history line.
Re-open the email.
The images will now be there.
