What's new

Access Legal Proclaim v3.5.3.0 is a focused release that brings practical improvements to everyday billing, document templating and user administration, together with a set of targeted bug fixes addressing customer-reported issues.

This version also delivers the underlying code changes needed to support the updated Land Registry integration. It has been designed as a lightweight, code-only release that can be installed using the self-service installer, so you can benefit from these updates without a wider platform upgrade.

Key improvements in this release

Filter by case type in Auto Billing

You can now filter by case type when generating bills in the Auto Billing module — an option that was not previously available. With the feature enabled, Auto Billing displays a prompt on Generate, allowing you to choose which case types to include. This gives you finer control over billing runs, so you can target specific areas of work rather than processing everything in a single pass.

More precise cost limit warnings

A new Cost Limit Warning setting lets you base the warning calculation on billed and outstanding work-in-progress values only. This gives firms that manage matters against a cost limit a clearer, more relevant view when assessing where a matter stands. Please note that where this new setting is active, the existing "exclude written-off WIP" behaviour is superseded. To enable the setting, please contact Accounts Support.

Richer JSON document templates

This release expands what you can do with JSON templates. You can now build sub-templates for Proclaim table fields, so that selected content from a table is pulled into a main template rather than exporting the whole table. The content is filtered using a maths field, giving you precise control over exactly which rows are included in your output.

You can also dynamically rename the root element of a sub-template based on the content of a Proclaim field, which is useful where the element name needs to change from one record to the next. Alongside these capabilities, the JSON Template screen has been re-arranged to make the layout clearer to work with.

User Group maintenance improvements

The User Groups maintenance screen has an improved layout, and a new icon lets you quickly see which groups a given user belongs to. For system administrators managing access across a firm, this makes it faster and more reliable to review and confirm a user's group membership.

Land Registry integration — code groundwork

This release delivers the code changes that keep the Land Registry integration working ahead of forthcoming changes to the Land Registry's electronic submission service. These changes were brought forward from a larger planned release so that firms can adopt them sooner, through the self-service installer, without waiting for a wider platform upgrade.

It is important to understand what this release does and does not include. v3.5.3.0 provides the foundation that enables the updated integration to operate, and the corresponding functional update will follow separately via workflow updates. One element of the change — the handling of larger documents — depends on a later platform update and will be delivered in a future release. Making these code changes available now means the integration can continue to function ahead of the service change, rather than being interrupted.
