Word is likely to be opening, however it may be hidden behind the other windows, and therefore not popping up. To resolve this issue, please follow solution 1 and if unsuccessful continue to follow solution 2:

Solution 1

  1. Check if word icon is visible on your PC toolbar towards the bottom of the screen.

  2. If it is, select the Word Icon to open the document.

  3. Click on the cross at the top right to close the document. The linked action should then continue to run.

Solution 2

  1. Open the Registry Editor on the PC. This can usually be done by clicking start and searching for Registry Editor - If you do not have access to this you may need to ask your internal IT team.

  2. Select Yes if prompted to allow the app to make changes to your PC.

  3. From the left hand side select HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then click Control Panel and then Desktop.

  4. Locate ForegroundLockTimeout and right click.

  5. Select Modify.

  6. Amend the Value Data field to 0 and click OK.

  7. Exit the program by clicking the cross.
