Please note: This is NOT for all users to see, only for tech users and above.

Set-up

Edit pdf in edge setting is to prevent the bitmap issue and is enabled per user basis, to enable it for specific users, users with at least tech 2 training can enable this. Additionally, recurring bitmap or red cross issues can also be addressed by setting Aspose Merge to Yes in the user’s profile Extended Fields and enabling "Use WebView2 for Adobe" in System Parameters. For the latter, you can specify user profile numbers separated by commas to apply the setting to specific users, or leave it blank to apply it universally. If the 'Edit PDF in Edge' field is not visible in the User Profile Extended Fields, it must first be created manually. Navigate to User Profiles → Extended Fields in the setup area, create a new field named 'Edit PDF in Edge', and deploy it to make it available for configuration.

To enable it for specific users follow the below steps: Note: To enable the feature globally, set the Field Value to 'Yes' in the setup area after creating the field. For individual users, leave the global Field Value empty and proceed with the steps below.

  1. Open ‘User Profile Extended Fields’

  2. Select the user

  3. On the right tab make sure to select (highlight) ‘Edit Pdf in Edge

  4. Press update and change the no to yes. (If its blank for the specific user change it to yes).5. To further address bitmap/red cross issues, ensure Aspose Merge is set to Yes in the same Extended Fields section.

  5. Additionally, enable "Use WebView2 for Adobe" in System Parameters for enhanced PDF handling. Ensure that the global Field Value remains empty if you are enabling the feature for specific users only.

See below example:

User Side- Instructions (Users can follow the below instructions)

Once the above is done make sure the user has Edge set as the default browser (ignore this step if edge is your only browser). To see if its enabled press the start button and search for default apps and press enter (see below): This step is particularly important when using WebView2 for Adobe PDF viewing, as it ensures compatibility and optimal performance.

Once opened search for ‘Edge’

Select Edge and select the first option “Make Microsoft Edge your default browser”

Once the change has been made in user profiles extended fields, get the user to sign out of proclaim and back in. This step also applies after enabling WebView2 in System Parameters to ensure the changes take effect.

User will now be able to amend documents in edge instead of proclaim’s default pdf editing tool.

Saving changes made to pdfs is done by the floppy drive icon in the top right corner as highlighted below;

The save button will appear grey however once you’ve added text into a field and either selected another field with your mouse or pressed the tab key the save button will light up allowing the user to press it.

Adobe Acrobat Licensing Issues

If you encounter an Adobe PDF-related error while printing notes from the History screen, the issue may stem from Adobe Acrobat not being properly licensed or activated. Follow these steps to resolve it:

  1. Launch Adobe Acrobat directly on the machine experiencing the issue.

  2. Sign in with a valid Adobe account to activate the license.

  3. If activation fails or errors persist, reactivate or reinstall Adobe Acrobat.

  4. Once activated, attempt to print the notes from Proclaim again.

Preventative Measures and Best Practices

  • Regularly check that Adobe Acrobat is properly licensed and updated.

  • Use Microsoft Edge as the default browser for optimal compatibility with WebView2.

  • Apply configuration changes proactively to prevent recurring issues.
